The latest trajectory from the national weather service shows hurricane Dean tracking into Mexico. This could affect Texas towns such as Brownsville, Padre Island and Corpus Christi. PLEASE BE ADVISED TO CONTINUE WATCHING THE NEWS. THE PATH OF A HURRICANE CAN CHANGE AT ANY TIME. Currently Hurricane Dean is bearing down on Kingston, Jamaica. Kingston is the capital city of Jamaica. The Jamaican government is preparing for the storm. Over one thousand shelters have been set up for hurricane victims all over Jamaica. Jamaica has learned how to prepare from previous storms such as hurricane Gilbert. Airports have shut down so tourists and visitors are being asked to stay inside their rooms. Instructions are being provided by the hotels and government in an effort to instruct visitors on how to prepare. Our prayers and concerns are with the people of Jamaica as well as the Cayman Island. They to will be effected by this storm. After moving over land, before final landfall in Mexico, the storm is planed to make landfall as a category 3 hurricane.
The Galveston Daily News has reported that the city of Galveston is watching this situation very closely. Updates will continue via your local news. The city may or may not call for a voluntary or mandatory evacuation. The decision would come closer to Monday evening, possibly Tuesday. If the storm stays on it's current path then Galveston may see winds and storm surge. The city of Galveston is asking that you do stay prepared. KEEP YOUR GAS TANKS FULL. Tie down any yard items. Secure your boats and make sure your storage rooms or units are prepared for flooding. Flooding could very well be a possibility even without a hit near Galveston.
We will continue to post updated on our blog. Thanks for your time.
